Principal Message

Kimberly Johnston

Welcome! I am so excited to be a Valley View Elementary for a fifth year as your principal! The best part about this year is- all of the many engaging hands-on experiences students will be having as we launch Project Lead the Way K-6!

Prior to being a principal, I was an Assistant Principal at Endeavour, Columbia, and Heritage Elementary schools. Before that, I taught 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade. I was an elementary Media Specialist for seven years before becoming a teacher. I graduated from Weber State University with my BA in Elementary Education and the University of Utah with my Masters degree in Reading/Literacy and Educational Leadership & Policy.

I have been married for 32 years to my husband Craig and we have two children, Zach and Kaitlin. Both are married and so we have added a son-in-law Adam and a daughter-in-law Brittney to our family. I finally became a grandma last year after a long wait. My first grandchild, Bridger, was born last July and Lincoln shortly after in February! They are the light of my life!

We have a Goldendoodle name Josie, who is almost four years old. We live on an acre of land where we have 13 chickens, four wild turkeys and started beekeeping. In my "spare" time, I like to read, sew, garden, camp, hike, and be outside in nature. We have enjoyed exploring the many off road trails in Utah in our side-by-side ATV. I enjoy spending time with my family.

I am a members of the Utah Elementary Principal's Association as well as out Davis chapter. I recently attended the 2018 Model Schools Conference in Orlando, Florida and can't wait to implement some of the great ideas i received. I have a passion for learning and discovering and am excited to share that with my students. I love my job and can't wait to meet all of our new Falcons and parents this year at Valley View.

I know Valley View is "The Greatest School" and you will think so too!
